Chen, Y. J. et al. Characterization of 582 natural and synthetic terminators and quantification of their design constraints. Nat. Methods 10, 659–664 (2013).

In this publication, Chen and colleagues characterize an incredibly large amount of terminators, both natural and synthetic. Only the ones with the highest strengths (higher than 98% reduction) were picked for the repository, although others can be found in the publication. Strength was calculated as a ratio between the measurement of expresions of coding sequences downstream and upstream of the terminator. Resistance to recombiation was also calculated for groups of these terminators. Indiscriminate use of many of them in the same cells could lead to recombination, so the use of a non-repetitive part calculator would be advised.
