Li, X. et al. A single-component light sensor system allows highly tunable and direct activation of gene expression in bacterial cells. Nucleic Acids Res. 48, e33 (2020).
In this publication, Li and colleagues characterize a promoter and a blue-light inactivated cognate repressor. Although this system shows the highest dynamic range for the optogenetic promoters in this repository, another promoter (PFixK2) has shown a dynamic range up to 500-fold when amplified by an inverter. The high dynamic ranges of both systems can be explained by a remarkably low leakiness.
