In this paper, Zong and colleagues design modular promoters and models through which they can predict a promoter's activity based on the sequences for the promoter core and operator. Through this method, they calculated the behaviour of over 1000 regulated promoters, and validated over 80 of them experimentally. For each repressor tested, we picked the promoters with the highest dynamic range. There are others with higher predicted dynamic range that haven't been tested yet.
